Hello Future directly addresses UN Sustainable Development Goals on quality education and is mission-compatible with larger humanitarian agencies, making it a plug-and-play companion to larger overall initiatives.
Hello Future benefits its host countries with improvements in:
- Economic empowerment
- Psychosocial well-being
- Advocacy for open civil society
- Job creation: in-country coordinators, teachers, translators and teacher’s aides
Given the inconsistent level of participants’ backgrounds, Hello Future will meet them where they are developmentally and build upon the skills they already have. Aware of the community-centric regional qualities, Hello Future ensures its success by entrenching local customs, like teaching in Arabic and hiring local instructors, to benefit the area economy and increase acceptance.
Expansion Plans 2018-2020
Building on the success of the pilot, we will adapt and scale the program for the next deployment in Erbil and Duhok in Fall 2018. By 2020, Hello Future can be implemented across the region, including in Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey. Hello Future is designed as a sustainable, scalable, portable and adaptable digital literacy program.
Currently, there are 65.6M refugees and internally displaced people (IDPs) forcibly uprooted from war, strife and climate change; the refugee crisis remaps political geography and calls on our own responsibility in this interconnected global society to provide greater human rights advocacy. Well-informed refugees with reliable connections to their home communities experience improved well-being and are less vulnerable to negative influences and exploitation. The potential for Hello Future are unlimited.
